A very common question that runs in every car owner’s mind is how I fit an ipod dock in my car. For one’s question on how to play their IPod through car stereo can be very easily answered. Playing it through the car stereo is a very simple procedure. A radio signal of low wattage can be used to play music from the Ipod through a car FM stereo from the Ipod dock. The Ipod can be easily handled in along with a car stereo which requires very less amount of power supply. The quality of Ipod is not lost by using it along with a FM stereo.

These radio signals have low wattage which means low power. The battery of Ipod becomes the source for powering the transmitters which are wireless. Cigar lighter ports can be used for plugging ipod docks which makes it less expensive, effective and more reliable. There are wireless docks which may not be hand free and plug in types of ipod docks that come as hand free sets.

The first step is to buy a suitable dock depending on the user’s requirements. These docks are available in various colours. Care must also be taken to make sure the ipod that is to be used fits properly in the dock. There are different docks like Griffin iTrip.

Then the dock is then fixed at the any port that has power supply which is generally the port for cigarette lighter.

Next we see how plug in FM transmitters work. Most of the features are same as the wireless ones. They also emit signals which are picked up by stereo in certain frequencies of tuning stations. In this plug in type the dock must be fitted first to a port that supplies power like that of a cigar lighter. Then ipod is connected to the dock.

These are safer than wireless ones in one way that these are all hands free. These docks use the car’s battery as its power house thus enhancing longer life for the Ipod battery. But the only disadvantage in using this type of dock is that it is very big and hence it requires larger space inside your car.

The wireless docks are much compacter but since the system uses the battery of the ipod as the source of power and therefore reduces the battery longevity of the ipod making it a disadvantage for use in long drives. On the other hand the plug-in transmitters use the battery of the car for power and not that of the ipod because of which the ipod has a longer life. This system is hands-free and considered to be much safer than the wireless dock. This has a disadvantage of space. It is generally larger than the wireless dock and hence occupies more space.

Though there might be slight variations in fixing dock to our ipod with different cars the procedure for fitting and working remains the same and this article thus provides a clear picture on how do I fit an iPod Dock in My Car?
