The Archos MP3 Players - The Greatest of Its Breed

There is really just one bonafide marketplace leader when it comes to portable media devices for music and videos, and that is without a doubt the Apple iPod. But that doesn’t mean that the iPod is the only game in town — not by a long shot. There are quite a few brilliant alternatives to the ubiquitous Apple brand that are akin not only in features but also in quality and cost. Take the latest Gen 5 line of the Archos mp3 players as an example. For the quality and the price of this device it gets my highest vote. I purchased the 80GB 605 Wifi model a few months ago and am completely confident that I made the right choice in ditching my iPod.

Archos MP3 players are separated from the rest of the pack by many things. Just love all of the other MP3 players it plays music, but with the 80 GB of storage that provides I have been able to put every album that I own onto it and still have plenty of room to spare. Many digital file types are supported, including .mp3, .wav, and .wma (protected or not). It is a really nice feature because it means that I don’t have to wait around for conversion software in order to download my songs. Features like this make it a much more versatile and convenient player than many other brands.

But the Gen 5 line goes well beyond merely playing music. You can very easily navigate through all of the menus in the Archos line up of MP3 players with either your finger or the stylus that comes included on an absolutely high quality 4.3 inch color touchscreen. The large display is also perfect for watching movies, TV shows, or streaming YouTube videos. It yields an amazingly sharp picture that is plainly visible in all kinds of lighting. Whenever I see somebody trying to watch a movie or something on their tiny iPod display I just have to shake my head and feels sorry for them. Why put yourself through that when the bigger, better Archos MP3 players are available?

One of the really cool features that I enjoy about the Archos MP3 players the fact that I don’t have to be connected to a computer to deal with my content. I can download my songs and movies and other videos on the go because it has a WiFi connection. What is more, the included Opera web browser makes it easy for me to surf the Internet, check my email, and play games wherever I am — something that’s not possible with most other devices out there. With those other brands, you’re basically stuck with whatever contents is on the player already, and can’t perform an update until the next time you’re sitting in front of your PC.

If you really think about making the acquisition of a portable media player, don’t just do what everyone else does and pay money for one of those costly iPods just because of what it is. I undeniably counsel giving the Gen 5 Archos MP3 player a spin. They’re a lot more highly developed than the competition and cost less. Receiving more for less… isn’t that what intelligent shopping is all about?
